These SAMUTERs operate in extensive peneplains, plains, fertile plains and sedimentary countryside traditionally used for agriculture or livestock farming, with hardly any direct urban impact. Most of this type of environment is located in the interior of the peninsula, although there are also important plains of historical agricultural dedication along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coast of Andalusia. These areas are currently dominated by consolidated commercial agrosystems, both rainfed and irrigated, often specialised in one dominant crop or livestock use (olive groves, vineyards, cereals and industrial crops, vineyards, livestock pastures, large irrigated areas dedicated to different crops, etc.).
